Sprinkler system installation & repair in Waco, TX
Water where the yard needs it, and nowhere else.
New sprinkler systems designed and installed by licensed irrigators, plus repairs and tune-ups for the system you already have. Serving Waco and Central Texas since 1992.
Installation & Repair
Most sprinkler problems are design problems that show up later.
A system that was laid out in a hurry looks fine for a season. Then the dry corner by the driveway browns out every July, the front beds stay soggy, and the water bill climbs while half the spray lands on concrete. H&M has been designing, installing, and repairing sprinkler systems around Waco since 1992, and most of what we fix traces back to a zone that was never planned around the yard it waters.
Because H&M is also a landscape design and lawn maintenance company, our irrigators plan around where the beds, trees, and turf actually are, and where they are going to be. That is the difference between a system that waters a lot and a system that waters well.
Irrigation work performed under Texas licensed irrigator Chad Peebles, LI8888.

New sprinkler system installation
Every new system starts with a walk of the property. We look at sun and shade, slope, soil, turf type, and the beds and trees that need different amounts of water than the lawn. From there we lay out zones so each one waters one kind of thing (sunny turf, shaded turf, or beds) instead of mixing needs on a single valve.
Then we install it: trenching, pipe, valves, heads, and controller, plus the backflow prevention and rain shut-off device that Texas rules require on new automatic systems. Before we leave, every zone is run and adjusted so the spray reaches head to head and stays off the sidewalk.
- Site walk and zone layout
- Turf, beds, and trees planned on separate zones
- Backflow prevention and rain shut-off device
- Every zone tested and adjusted before we leave
Sprinkler repair
Broken heads, leaking valves, a zone that will not shut off, a controller that lost its program after a storm, a soggy spot that appeared overnight: these are the calls we get every week. Our irrigators find the cause instead of just replacing the part that looks broken, so the same problem does not come back next month.
Repairs come with a coverage check. If a head has been knocked out of line by a mower or has sunk into the soil, it gets raised, cleaned, and re-aimed while we are there.
- Broken or leaking heads and lines
- Valve and wiring problems
- Controller programming and replacement
- Leak checks for an unexplained high water bill
Seasonal checks and tune-ups
Central Texas asks a lot of an irrigation system. Summer heat means running it hard, a hard freeze can crack exposed pipe and backflow assemblies, and city watering schedules mean every minute of run time has to count. A seasonal check walks every zone, fixes what is not right, and sets the controller for the months ahead, before the yard tells you something is wrong.
- Spring start-up and coverage check
- Summer run times set to local watering rules
- Fall adjustment and freeze preparation
Service area
Sprinkler service from Waco to Temple, Killeen, and Gatesville.
H&M is based in Hewitt and installs and repairs sprinkler systems for homes and businesses in Waco, Woodway, Hewitt, China Spring, and Elm Mott, down I-35 through Temple, Belton, Salado, Killeen, and Harker Heights, and west to Gatesville, McGregor, Clifton, and Valley Mills.
Soil changes a lot across that area, from heavy blackland clay to thin, rocky ground west of Waco, and so does how a system should run. Clay takes water slowly and sheds it if it is watered too fast, so we set those zones to run in shorter cycles that soak in instead of running down the gutter.

Questions
Common questions about sprinkler system work.
Do I need a licensed irrigator to install or repair a sprinkler system in Texas?
Yes. Texas requires anyone who designs, installs, or repairs irrigation systems for hire to hold an irrigator license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), with limited exceptions such as homeowners working on their own property. H&M sprinkler work is done under a TCEQ irrigator license.
How much does a new sprinkler system cost in Waco?
It depends on the size of the yard, the number of zones, and what is being watered. We walk the property and give you a free estimate with no obligation, so you know the price before any work starts.
How often should I run my sprinklers in a Central Texas summer?
Deeper and less often is usually better than a little every day. Water early in the morning, follow your city's watering schedule, and if water starts running off before a zone finishes, split the run into two shorter cycles. We set controllers this way on the systems we service.
Why did my water bill suddenly go up?
A broken head, a cracked line, or a valve that does not close all the way can waste a lot of water without being obvious from the house. If your bill jumps and nothing else changed, have the sprinkler system checked.
Do you repair sprinkler systems H&M did not install?
Yes. We repair and tune up existing systems regardless of who installed them, and we will tell you plainly if a zone needs rework rather than another patch.
What customers say about their sprinkler systems.
Great experience with H&M installing my sprinkler system. Chad and Jason came to my house, planed out the project and provided me a reasonable quote. The work was promptly finished.
The folks at H&M recently installed an irrigation system in my yard...I would highly recommend them to anyone needing an irrigation system!!
